I'm a complete newb ;) Sharpening two ends at once then using it till it REALLY needs attention is the way I often go.
I don't usually snap them, having tried this in the past it just seems to splinter the Multistrike.
i just love this stand!!
p.s. does anybody know a good place to get a 100-115mm Rotary Steel Crimped Wire Brush for Angle Grinder M14 what i'm looking for is a good quality at a reasonable price, the ones i bought so far just come to bits when i use them.
Thats excellent.
I think I have the same or very similar do you have any spare bits left? I think mine is missing an end cover and tool rest that bolts to the body of the machine I will have to dig it out
...incher. 3 grinders went into making this one as I was dead set on having it rebuilt using original parts. New set of bearings and it purrs nicely. Not bolted to the floor yet never moves no matter the imbalance of wheels. Great piece of machinery. Grooves in the stone are from tungsten...
So, as some of you know, I bought a Parweld 202 Pulse Tig from Tom at Welding Supplies Direct. The purchase was without drama and I received everything (except gas) to get me started. Today I used the set for the first time and in order to try to get the most out of it I took it over to my...
I got one very similar from @antonio costa and that was a problem with it. It did work very well but you had to be careful that you didn't put too much heat into the tungsten. If you backed off every turn for a fraction of a second before trying again it was fine. I was going to make up some...
Alright lads, As you know i've recently bought myself a 3D printer, I'm having plenty of fun with it.
One of the first things I printed after getting it fully calibrated and levelled was this tungsten electrode sharpening fitting for using with a dremel.
It fits onto a standard side dremel and...
Got the very one. Does a decent job sharpening most kitchen things.
Mainly I use it to grind tungsten tips for the TIG.
Definitely well worth the money
Agree 100% with that.
12 years ago I was a reasonably competent tig welder. I worked in a food factory & 95% of the welding was tig welds on stainless food machinery. I was able to carry out weld repairs in less than ideal locations, usually with a line manager breathing down my neck telling me...
What sort of turning are you planning on doing and how much? I just use the standard carbide inserts and they last well and keep things simple. If making special one offs I'd just use tool steel.
I hardly use my grinder if I'm honest but good to have when needed.
I have a water stone wheel that spins at 90 RPM for sharpening knifes, chisels etc.
I need a new general purpose one for using and abusing, however ive also been told that I need another one with some sort of "Green" wheel for grinding tungsten carbide lathe tooling that I will be making soon...
GreasedUpDeafGuy don't be defeated man! I too only have a hobby lathe (Chester 3 in 1 mill lathe type thing)
They can be made to do decent work but I believe it's more of a faff to do it than a "proper" lathe.
I started with hss tooling but just couldn't get it to work for me, I then tried...
Thanks for your post @DAPPH Sounds like a good idea, i'm really happy with the finish i get with the tungsten sharpener on my dremel. Now that i'm getting better i can go half an hour without sharpening it some times .
Would be interested to see some of your TIG welds... get some pics up.
City Saws here in Norwich have a home-made spark engraver made from a 6 volt Ni-Cad torch battery connected to a charger plugged into the mains and a tig welding tungsten.
The counter top is steel and each customers saw blade has their name engraved in to it on delivery for sharpening so there...
Hi tinman,
I have one of the drill sharpeners highlighted in your ebay link. I think it's a chinese copy of an original english design, that being said it does a good job albeit sharpening small dia drills is a bit of a challenge. I echo the comments about the worries of side...
...Might be a project worth looking at for someone retired and wanting something easy to make, which should sell ok on Ebay? Nothing cost effective available for tungstensharpening at the moment, and a kit of parts to convert a bench grinder for say £30ish might sell surprisingly well?
