Any body any ideas where Seat have hid the diagnostic plug on their 54 model Altea 1.6 petrol? Does not mention it in the handbook and google has not helped.
Thanks for replies. I tried diagnostics plug and I found a reply that mentions that access is at 5 oclock position of the steering wheel. I cannot see a removable panel per se but below that area is the removable fuse box panel and it definitely is not there. The chap asking the whereabouts worked in a garage and reported that it did not give the whereabouts in the Autodata manuals they use so even the experts struggle some times! I saw another link and it showed the big facia panel removed left of the steering wheel so its going to be a game of hide and seek.
The google image search for Seat Altea had just about every car shown and the one for the Altea was not very clear but I will try again and use the obd port location search as suggested.
Well I found it. It was a pull off panel to the right of the steering wheel(rhd). I would not thought of attempting to just pull of a dash panel in the hope that it was a quick release as it might not be and get damaged. But thanks lads problem solved. But as it happens the warning light disappeared after a drive. It was a amber steering wheel light and it would not go even after cycling the steering or even disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. But a short drive did the trick, thank the lord. I have just bought the car for the sons wife and was giving it a service which it desperately needed by the state of the air and pollen filters. It had a couple of foibles with warnings and the fan coming on on cold start but a good battery charge has seemed to have sorted it!
Yeah quite normal for lights to come on with vag stuff after a flat battery or even a charge sometimes, my grandads soda yeti had a few on when I changed battery recently. Usually esp related and went off after a drive of so far above a certain speed
Funnily the battery tested ok on the bench with my load tester but gave it a charge with one of the new electronic chargers which has a series of lights keeping you informed of the state of charging. magic bit of kit it is to!
