Is a navigable touchscreen really allowed in a car when moving? A static screen with buttons yes but surely not one with layers of menus?? My old satnav wouldn't let you programming on the move, presumably to stop you doing so.
Much of the other stuff is just progress in terms of safety, reliability, comfort, economy ... E.t.c,
-Seatbelts - should not be allowed as people won't mind driving dangerously as the belt will catch them
-ABS - should be banned, you should not get into a situation whereby ABS is needed. If you do, it will cause rear end collisions as following cars won't be able to stop so well.
- automatic emergency braking - see; "Seatbelts"
-reversing beepers/cameras - another unnecessary gadget that makes for poor driving
-oil pressure light- encourages lazy maintenance and distracts driver checking for it.
You can make up any example, loads of stuff isn't strictly needed for driving but overall it helps.
There are duffer design mistakes that happen but things were never better. A lot of manufacturers didn't even manage to get the steering wheel and pedals in line "back in the day"
