well I've been TIG welding for over a year now and the work I have been doing has been dirty work with really dirty ally and stainless so difficult to maintain a good looking weld no matter how much cleaning I do. Occasionally I have had a few fittings to weld on the bench and as I always do, I do a dummy run to check I can get around the work piece easily enough. Now and again a do a dummy run of walking the cup and have never felt comfortable so never tried the real thing until today.
I had to make a valve fitting testing jig for a customer using stainless pipe being welded to a stainless screw fitting either end, and for some reason my cup walking dummy run felt right as if something clicked so I gave it a go. Admittedly I slipped a few times but rectified them and completed the whole job using this technique. The pictures aren't so clear but I hope you can all make them out and hopefully give some pointers on where I can improve. The jig was tested and all welds passed the pressures put through it.
