I'm looking to enrol this year on evening courses for city and guild level 1 and level 2. It's about 24 weeks all in all 1-2 evenings per week. I'm currently a self employed locksmith but looking to go in to welding whilst continuing my locksmithing as I've noticed a lot of welding jobs seem to be 1 - 3 month contracts and not always full time which would suit me perfectly.
I've got an arc welder which I've been given that I will test soon but as for choosing a welding type I need to choose between mig,tig and arc for this course.
I can appreciate this question gets asked a lot but which type is worth getting qualified in, and more so do employers recognise city and guilds, I know the level 2 my work will get tested to british standards so I'm guessing its worth something.
I was personally thinking do the city and guild in MIG welding whilst practising arc welding at home that will kind of give me a dual start when applying for small welding jobs.
Thanks guys
