I have an old trailer chassis and body to clean up, fix up and then treat with a paint of some kind.
The wooden paneling has been removed so I'm left with the box frame, the chassis and axle. It's pretty rusty, majority is surface rust.
I'm going to wire brush it down with an angle grinder, get as much of the loose crap off as possible.
Rust is a cancer as we all know, I doubt I'll get rid of it now it has a firm hold!
However what paint can folks recommend to put over the top of this metal, bearing in mind it will be still a little rusty (I'll get rid of what I can)? Should I pre-treat with a rust killing agent (one of those jelly) first, then paint?
I've looked at Hammerite, pretty expensive but a well known brand. Anything else that can be slapped over partially rusty paint and will hopefully remain on the metal?
Thanks.
