Painted over the last couple of days, chalk guide lines removed and sealed this morning.
Have you got a set of " French curves " and a bendy rubber stick profile ? they are very useful in making curves .Signwriting practice piece in progress.
Layout by hand, no tracing etc. Very time consuming and curves are a bitch to get right. Difficult to see but just pencil onto printboard. Lots of guidelines etc.

Using Joby Carters excellent book, and his Curveside font.

The "C" is well wobbly and needs more work. I'm probably going to wipe it all off and have another go.
Reminds me of the sign in Barmouth of a chippy called the Carousal. The “C” fell off years ago, when they had new signs they kept the “C” on a wonky angleSignwriting practice piece in progress.

Smacking the bendy stick over the class idiot's head.

Great to hear that feedback - I’m doing the 5 day course in May.Sketching out on paper and chalking the back to transfer makes life a little easier, also white chinagraph pencil is great for darker backgrounds.
I spent a day with Joby a couple of weeks ago, great day. Lots of learning.

Yes to both, but didn't help as the curves change depending whereabouts you are on the letter, and on the outside or inside. Practise is keyHave you got a set of " French curves " and a bendy rubber stick profile ? they are very useful in making curves .

Great fun.Spent most of the day with the concrete breaker trying to get the post out, whoever did it put it almost 1m deep so gave up digging and pulled once there was enough to grip!

I hear its a pretty full on week.I'm considering the 5 day course, probably after the end of the year.
One of my brothers borrowed my new engine crane that had been used once, when I got it back it was twisted and bent. When asked what he had been lifting he told me fence posts, he didn’t like it when I made him replace the craneGreat fun.
Last year a friend got me to replace some posts, they were wood in concrete
I didnt have a breaker, and they were huge slabs of concrete, so sharpened a bit of steel angle and smashed it down the center, then a trolly jack and a post used as a beam to lift it out.
She sent me a pic this morning of another two fence panels down, atlesst one post, possibly 3 to be replaced !
did smashing the angle into what was left of the wood grip that well?! i tried removing old rotten wooden shelves that where held into the block wall with wooden dowels and 9 inch nails,... the wood was absolutely soaking, but what a grip it had!!Great fun.
