My auto darkening face helmet seems to go from light to dark even without the batteries in it.
It's good to know they put a back-up, belts and braces system in to it.Oh and welcome of course!
I wasn't actually aware it had a solar panel, I assumed it was battery power only.Oh and welcome of course!
I'm absolutely going fully OTT with the safety side. After a few hours welding, I'll take all the kit off and there won't be a single burn or any eye problems which can give the impression you've been wearing far more than you needed to and, "it wasn't that bad". The thing is, you only have to get one piece of molten metal or something like hit yours skin, or dust in the eyes, or a bad chest from the smoke, and then all of sudden you'll be cursing yourself for not wearing that extra gear. I'd rather be hot and uncomfortable from all the gear, than spend days or weeks nursing an injury.Welcome, @Rust Warrior . It sounds like you have a great project. I'm new here myself. They seem a really knowledgeable and helpful bunch of guys. You'll like it.
Well done on the PPE, by the way. I often weld in shorts and crocs, which ain't smart...
You remember that, when your head is stuck under a wheel arch, and there isn't room for you in all your gear - it's hard sometimes, but thems the challenges.I'm absolutely going fully OTT with the safety side.
