I love how the lump of bread got more likes than the welding.

Welding where? did I miss something?I love how the lump of bread got more likes than the welding.![]()
What’s welding!?Welding where? did I miss something?
Didn't you see? He started with a sliced loaf!Welding where? did I miss something?

Here we are, not quite done yet, I fought the urge to weld the valve - sorry dti holder, to the recycled int 40 toolholder.Today I finished making an especially short, 30mm head diameter flycutter to fit a small (or medium, still not sure) Clarkson S type Autolock. Took "one last cut" on the 20 tpi thread, turned it into a ploughed field, I still don't know why. After making the flycutter (to cut the bearing bores in the end casing for my sequential mini gearbox), I then decided I need a means of centering up on the mini double roller bearing bore, which is 200mm down inside the casing, so guess what I started making tonight...
Hopefully might finish over the weekend, so pics and an update on the thread then, just don't be too hard on me about the thread on the flycutter..
Crap tig welding, I know, I was struggling with seeing the weld pool. Here we are, not quite done yet, I fought the urge to weld the valve - sorry dti holder, to the recycled int 40 toolholder.
Its an error free centre finder, so I can bore the input end bearing housing in line with the existing double roller bearing (I'm converting a mini gearbox into a 5 speed sequential dog box, once I've welded this up I'll post a pic of it in action). The two pics are different, giving an idea how it works.View attachment 527297View attachment 527298
Bad weld - Blame the metal, that's what I do.Crap tig welding, I know, I was struggling with seeing the weld pool.

Internally linked? Are you going to spring load the probe or will it work with plunger pressure?

I get bad metal at random times as wellThere is a lot of bad metal going around![]()

Internally linked by a piece of m5 longthread with a nylon piston at the top, Its for vertical use, the weight of the bits and the spring in the dti looks like it will be enough. Biggest drawback is the lack of adjustability - the probe end (the second one I made, first was a fail, the arm on the linkage wasn't long enough and it fouled on the inside of the stainless tube) has a pressed in ball end (made from a Ford pinto race valve), so if it needs to check a bigger hole I can extend the ball end. Otherwise it's a one trick pony..Bad weld - Blame the metal, that's what I do.

I feel like all that's missing is @northwest with a bottle of black powderReady to go.

In action, worked a treat.Ready to go.

In truth though, it would be quite complex to design and make. With good light you can follow the reading as you rotate by hand.
