I don't think any car made in the last 40 years has had overcentering steering. Only drift cars with badly modified lock angle.

As well as >750kg and lack of auto reverse, even if the non-compliant electric or inertia-triggered brakes are fitted, it all falls apart on the maximum distance between wheel centres for two axled trailers.

It really doesn't need a test case, just a clued-up RPU who can be bothered.

Even the less clued up ones just get on their phones and in a minute or so everything they need is there.
As long as they don't just use the AI answers of course......

What would make them go full lock? Can't imagine pulling them along would make them do that, or they would do it driving along.

Incorrect castor angle would do it, but it would be undriveable on it's own.

Old cars with minimal castor angle and a lot of slop in the steering system usually, used to make these for a living. MGBs, landrovers, etc could be tricky, anything with recirculating steering too.
Plus newer cars with auto locking steering columns sometimes need a cutoff system installing.

I know 2CV's can be challenging, but there is another make of car that is the same. Maybe @CompoSimmonite can remember, it's been a while since I was involved in such games.

Old model Mazda 3 diesel was impossible to A frame. Even with somebody holding steering wheel it went to full lock either left or right with any forward motion. Citroen Xantia was a challenge as it needed suspension at full height for clearance which then made it unstable over 30 mph when towed. I've been pulled over by Police twice - first was due to an accident blocking road ahead and officers helped me turn around and second was on M1 with "why have you got rear fog light on ?" after electrical fault kept blowing side light fuse. Another time tow vehicle cut out on a roundabout with a Jag XJ40 in tow. Again Police helpful and weren't interested in A frame.

Not heard of that before - local motor club member had a high speed towing trailer that had a wheel base longer than the car that was on it - front wheels steered, or I imagine any corner would have been interesting.

Never had a problem A framing my MGB GT, Austin Sprite, Series III Land Rover, 200TDi Discovery, Jeep CJ5, Mahindra MM540, Morris 1000 / Minor, and many more older vehicles.

I'll go hunting when I get a chance, worst case I might have a set printed off I can send you, I'll never need them.
