In my experience, apart from the initial factory finish they are painted with whatever is available cheap in the company's preferred RAL...

Customers abuse them beyond what any coating could be expected to deal with, so "cheap as you can but often" is the best maintenance programme for waste containers.

I did once have to speak to procurement to buy a load of specially modified skips (for packaging contaminated with toxic powder) and I seem to remember the company's default spec to the three main manufacturers stating a specific RAL and that the paint 'must be of a type easily re-coated with minimal preparation".

Yes thin it,and in this temperature,thin as you go ,it evaporates whilst using. I get mine delivered from Elmbridge,Gloucester,try them for a price.

Never rated Hammerite, for anything.

Woco Supercote is another good enamel. Holds its gloss really well.

I have found that Screwfix No nonsense red "oxide" exceeds my overly high expectations too. Its a semi glossy poppy red/orange rather that dull matt

The original stuff was good for tool boxes although too brittle for chassis etc. The new formulation seems to be useless full stop.

So, having decided on Jotun Conceal and getting it from SML.
Pleasantly surprised, and disappointed.

Brilliant packaging and presentation.
Heavy box (expected), strapped and stapled, bulletproof.

Inside this

I'm not often impressed by packaging, I was a packaging person at a company when I was a transport manager.
But this deserves a mention. The envelope contains, delivery docs, manufactures doc for product, and a nice little notepad.
