In my experience, apart from the initial factory finish they are painted with whatever is available cheap in the company's preferred RAL...I mean the paint that skips are painted with![]()
Customers abuse them beyond what any coating could be expected to deal with, so "cheap as you can but often" is the best maintenance programme for waste containers.
I did once have to speak to procurement to buy a load of specially modified skips (for packaging contaminated with toxic powder) and I seem to remember the company's default spec to the three main manufacturers stating a specific RAL and that the paint 'must be of a type easily re-coated with minimal preparation".
