hello my name is Matt, im currently in germany serving with the Armed forces.
i have never welded in my life or have any kind of welding knowlege hence the reason of signing up here.
so im planning to restore a MK3 Astra GSI that i found when i was running through the local area, basically it has been left to rot in a farm.
i have always been a fan of cars but have always paid people to fix/repair them for me, i have decided to see how hard it really is and give it a bash myself.
i have probably choose the wrong project but im going to give it a go anyway.
a few pics of when i found her a few weeks ago.....
so i manged to get hold of the owner and after a bit sweet talking i manage to buy her for 200 euro, considering she started fist time i was quite impressed.
i then took her back to the garage and started to strip her down, i only have a small garage where i am so im going to work my way from back to front starting with the rear arches....
after buying myself a generator(i have no power in the garage )
an angle grinder a drill and various other gash i got to work.......
as you can see the inner arch is going to need some work.....
this came through the other day but i think it will be a while till this goes on
these are the pics from this weekend and what i have got up to, i have started doing the right first as it is the worst side..here they are.......
i am loving the project so far as i have never even used a grinder until last weekend its a massive learning curve and im hoping to gain even more knowledge from of here.
cheers for your time and i hope you all had a good read.
