Hi all
Well I went to the Burton on Trent college to see about a night time TIG welding course , quite impressed with staff they were keen to look at my Inverter Welder manual and when I showed them some projects I wanted to tackle they said no problem and you can weld them on the course [ what I was after really rather than a fixed format ]
So course will start in September for 10 weeks with more courses after that of 10 weeks duration if there is enough interest.
Enrolement is Tue 31 Aug to 3rd Sept times vary see college , part time prospectus is not yet out for 2010/2011.
Probably run Tuesday with a Wednesday night if enough enroll 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm lots of welding with a chance to get a Level 1 VRQ [ what ever that is ] and it says you are eligable to apply for a licence issued by the TWI.
Two fly's in the ointment for me , cost is £150 for course and £50 for materials so can probably only afford 1 x 10 weeks and I live 40 miles away so could be tricky to get there for 6:00pm.
It is a shame it is so expensive as they also teach MMA and MIG and I would have liked to also do the MMA as well.
New college nottingham claim to run a Hobby/Leisure welding course 15 weeks at £95 plus £15 for materials where you are encouraged to bring projects in , however that did not run last year [ I don't know why ] and yet again there part Time prospectus has yet to be published.
Anyone on this forum been on either course ?
regards Paul
