I could do with a bit of advice/reassurance here.... I need to fit a new door between our kitchen and rear porch. It's an internal door but an external grade door if that makes sense. The issue I have is that the door frame/casing is steel (it's a BISF house if anybody is familiar with them) and the existing hinges are welded in. Cutting them out and welding in new ones is obviously an option but I'd rather not weld in the house to be honest (I mean, what could possibly go wrong!) so I thought of various 'engineering' solutions. Then it occured to me, I could use heavy duty flush hinges. I've seen some large stainless ones with ball bearings that should be up to the job (I'll be using three) but I can't help but think of flush hinges as being a bit er, cheap and nasty? They'd make my life a lot easier but what are your opinions/experiences? I was going to use countersunk steel rivets to fasten them to the frame incidentally.
Advice appreciated, thanks.
