Looking for a supplier of fasteners, wondering if anyone knows of the best / cheapest? seen orbital fasteners and they seem quite reasonably priced compared with others as produced by a google search. Haven’t phoned any local suppliers yet. Thanks
depends on what you are after, orbital are ok, i use screwfix , they are better than fleabay offerings but i wouldnt trust them on safety critical stuff
Never tried mail ordering but when I lived in Surrey Margnor were a very useful shop to stop by. Only bolt I didn't manage to source there was an M2x35 stainless A2 in black...
Thanks for that. I need at least 100 m16 x 40mm set screws nuts and washers then an assortment of others including 50 or so of m8 x 30mm countersunk and matching nuts.
I use accu a lot. Pretty fast delivery and a good selection. That’s for stainless though. Not sure what you need. I have shopped around in the past but settle on them and screwfix for the (few) that screwfix kept in stock after their consolidation a couple years back.
Oh sorry, self colour 8.8 steel would be ideal, especially for the nuts I can live with bzp screws. The countersunk screws will likely be 10.9’s but again self colour will be fine. No need for anything fancy!
Orbital are good for their range.
Fastco do some of the more common stuff a bit cheaper than Orbital and a good line of other consumables.
I find Screwfix and Toolstation pretty expensive for most of those things, but handy in a pinch.
FFX have, on occasion, been surprisingly cost effective too.
For odd stuff, stainless and other ones or twos on ebay Kayfast or Falcon Workshop Supplies (massiveattack007) are good.
Zoro have a good selection of threaded rod.
Spalding fasteners aren't all that cheap but sometimes stock things you can't easily get elsewhere.
There is also a local specialist fastener supplier that can supply pretty much anything, but you pay for it.
In my book, ‘cheap’ and ‘best’ are rarely synonymous.
If I want (as in ‘need’) good quality fixings, I turn to my local specialist supplier - Sterling Bolt & Nut Co Ltd, Peterborough. Screwfix are in town but my local hardware store is often adequate for low quality, but cheap, fixings in a limited range.
