Hi all
im having a dilema.
Im thinking of doing major repairs on the A pillars on my Mk1 Escort.
Its an X rally car and still has a full 10 point roll cage in it with adjustable detachable bolt in door bars. The mounting points for the roll cage are the tops of both inner rear arches, the bottoms of both B pillars and the standard top seat belt mounting bolt holes about two thirds of the way up and the pillars the bottom but slightly forward of both the A pillars and half way up the front windscreen pillars. The door bars are adjustable on separate bolt together brackets that bolt to the main hoop and down to the front section of the cage.
Do you think that if I cut out the A pillars the roll cage will hold it all together sufficiently without any of it moving, or would it be advisable to weld some extra metal work in place aswell?
I'll try an get some pics on but my digital camera's broken at the moment.
Thanks
Rob
