ive bought a new to me battery it looks fair condition so not well battered but as i paid £20 for it want it to last a reasonable time out of it
Only way I guess is to put a dc clamp on a better one, you know is good, compared to that one.
You'd only need to sacrifice a male and female socket so you could get a dc clamp on a wire between tool and battery. Got a dead battery and tool to sacrifice?
Personally, I would fully charge it, stick it in the angle grinder and see roughly how long it lasts compared to a known good one.
If I wanted to be an bit more precise, stick it in the circular saw and measure the length of cut on a bit of 3/4" marine ply.
What tools have you got to put it in?
What scrap have you got?
Stick a good battery in the grinder and start cutting a slit in a bit of 10mm steel sheet. When that battery dies stick the new one in and start cutting next to the first cut.
See which one cuts furthest.
Or do the same with the circular saw along an old scaffold plank.
Or put a 25mm drill bit in and see how many holes you can put in a railway sleeper with each one.
Maybe I'm looking at this wrong way but by the time you've done all that messing about just to prove if a £20 battery is worth having you may as well spent £50 and bought a brand new one.
just reminded me need to charge 6 batteries i have. most will be down
Beat me to it. Even a couple of thin strips of shim would doOr a couple of jumper wires and some spade connectors?
