Hi,
I’m totally new to welding, I’ve had five minutes on a mig welder and that’s it.
I would love to get some hands on with tig, but have been advised that the practicality of mig would be more suitable.
At present I’m only looking to buy one welder, so I need to decide which process to get started with.
in terms of budget, I don’t really want to spend more than £500 on welder (new or second hand), as I’ll also need to stock up on all the PPE, consumables and gas etc. Is £1000 a realistic budget to get all that I need?
As far as welders go I’ve looked at R-Tech and Jasic. I’m aware of R-Tech’s multi process machine, but I think it might be best to stick to a tig or mig machine.
I think I’ll be welding mainly box or angle and not anything too thick. I’ve got some stock left over from a project last year that should be enough to create a welding table. After that maybe a welding cart and then maybe little projects like furniture and little bits and bobs.
Any thoughts much appreciated.
Chris
