Car 013 Vauxhall Astra estate 1.7 CDTi ecoflex. 100 k
In desperation of my old diesel Citroen dying bit by bit, I need to look at something a bit newer. Anything like the above is very appealing with a 30 quid tax bill a year
This one I am looking at is an ex fleet car that had a clutch die and looking at it, has been pretty abused cosmetically some bodywork and interior (Mainly grubby inside) hence sold on. All be it body painted and inside cleaned but the signs of abuse are there.
It has full history with a fair amount of mechanical work being done at a lot of expense. Sensors, injectors, heater fan.. about 15 + expensive looking bills. The paperwork was quite impressive for repairs and replacements parts for a 6 year old car with 100 k on the clock.... It drives very nicely with nothing adversely wrong. A cam belt at 83 k so that's good to go and a brand new clutch..........but I'm seeing the list of paperwork as a concern and a warning sign of so much work needed for a 6 year old car.... This is not brakes, battery's, tyres etc, the normal stuff you expect. Is this a warning sign of the quality of vauxhall's and is it a sign of a money pit? I am not in a position to keep paying out these kind of repairs going by the history.
Being a practical guy in the engineering sector i naturally understand stuff but I'm not a car person if that makes sense. My general car knowledge of whats good and bad is not great.
Views and advice welcome before i make a mistake. Thanks in advance.
