to cut a long story short, we've hit the equestrian equivalent of the jackpot, and have been able to move the Horses to a privately owned stable yard with only us on there ( apart from the owner ). Its a blissful place , with everything we need, and its very peaceful , no people, bitching about each other, falling out, and queueing for the paddock.
Some stuff needs fixing up, but unlike the other place where we had to put up with leaking rooves, lack of light, mud, having to bring your own water to bathe Horses, paddock like the surface of the moon etc. , she's only too happy to let us do stuff. Ive already re-floored an old shed which was being used as a hen cabin ( she offered to pay for the materials) and the stables have had a nice lick of paint .
Ive been looking at the paddock gates, one of them is falling closed as you go through it, and its potentially dangerous if it touches a horses **** on the way through and spooks it. The hinge eyes are out of adjustment, but the bottom one only has a nut on one side, so thats why its hanging down.
does anyone know if the nuts are a standard thread, and if so what it is, (Im guessing M20) ? so I can see if I can get a new nut for pence. I know I can get a new eye with two nuts on it for about a fiver but it seems a shame to scrap a good eye for the want of a nut
