I have been having a bit of trouble with a flat battery on my Fiesta. First time it was after the tailgate had been open a lot, then after I used a tyre pump without running the engine. Last week, with the hot weather, the fan was running when I stopped the engine and the battery was flat when I came to start it again. Checked the battery with the load tester at work and it checked out as good. Tried checking the voltage when running and I get 13.2v which seems low, what is more strange is it doesn’t vary at all, rev it 13.2v, on tickover 13.2v lights on, 13.2v. So thinking it could be the alternator, I put an Ammeter on it a full 60amp max job as I was expecting a fairly heavy charge, but no, about 8amp, again little variance with revs. Is this normal for a modern car? I am more used to Quads and old cars with Lucas ACR alternators.
