It will show issues, ie a cylinder that is lower then the others, test dry and then a teaspoon full of oil into the cylinder can show either leaking head gasket or valveNot if there is a underlying issue.

I have a Sealy and a Halfords, both do a Ok job.
But a compression tester will tell you if you have compression. Not if there is a underlying issue.
Most people only do a dry test and miss out a wet test.
I have that same sealey kit. I can't vouch for its accuracy but it's been fine for giving an indication or for seeing if the compression is balanced.
The only issues has been the grade of rubber on the o rings, mine all crumbled away after a few years.
can you replace them ?
