If tariffs get applied to our goods selling into Europe then U.K. manufacturers would either need to cut their bottom line to carry on selling to EU customers at the same price, or they will need to increase prices to retain margins and as a result probably lose customers. Either way they would be less well off.
If we put tariffs on goods coming in then consumers pay more for foreign goods for sure, but UK manufacturers will have also seen plant, parts and raw material costs rise at the same time due to tariffs, and so probably won't be able to take advantage of the situation to sell cheaper.
And of course the one who pays the tariffs is the consumer. I personally don't see a winner here.
