Yep but they are not direct injected fuel systems, and the v8 isnt turboed either ! the tfsi relies on careful metering of the fuel in order to burn clean, also the egr is very active in these engines and NoX treatment with VVTI cams and tight emission measures don't do them any favor. Also the 1.8Tfsi and 2.0Tfsi are highly strung from factory, they run very large KKK turbos which take time to spool...a remap sees them engines close to 300-350 Bhp before touching anything on them !Saab turbo petrol engines have similar compression ratios to the audi. They dont suffer excessive oil consumption. And the compression ratio isn't very low either. Have a look at an American V8!
American v8 are slow reving, torquey engines with relatively low power outputs from their displacement unless youre talking LS crate engines and they need to pass less stringent emission programs as on mainland europe !
