I possibly have a job that will involve making around 50off 200mm m14 threaded bars.
a "connector nut" will be attached at one end, and the other end needs turning down to 12mm to fit a pillow block.
I'm looking for a quick way to to remove about 10mm of thread off the end of the rod, better still if it deburrs it.
so my question is this:
is anyone aware of an "off the shelf" tool which will do this. not a lathe!
I'm thinking a tool like a die which is has two sections:
an m14 nut which threads onto the bar, then a "reaming" section which removes the thread to 12mm diameter. for a10-15mm length
it doesn't have to be +-0.001mm, but I would like it to be less rough than mounting the bar in a drill and running it against a grinder.
I've looked at using cut down M14 bolts, but to get a 200mm thread length with an unthreaded section is incredibly expensive AND I can't find a source for a 14mm Id flange pillow block (which again means ££££).
