cantilever tool boxes

Hi everyone

Im looking at getting a cantilever style 24" toolbox dose anyone have any recommendations as to which brand is best. Had a look at snapons bluepoint one but is stupidly expensive. Reasons for getting, i want a useable space that isn't a roll cab or top box as i don't have the space for one to store sockets, spanners and pry bars.

Bolted two of the large Facom cantilever tool boxes to a garden trolley, makes a decent yard box.

They start out like this, only picture of one on the net I could find.

Ripped off the castors and bolted them down.

thats a really cool setup will have to work towards something like that. is that a petrol powered impact?

Anyone thinking of building one needs to get a trolley with the solid wheels, I had to swap the pneumatic ones over to solid within a year. These cheap trolley`s have very poor quality tyres that perish while you watch them, always flat and dont hold air for more than a few days. Aside of that a very useful mobile box

I have a Facom one. It's 560mm so approx. 22". It is very well built and comes with the foam lining on all the trays which makes it a good bit quieter. 24" boxes seem hard to come across by the looks of it.

Do you need the 24" length to fit a specific tool in?

Yes I do is a 24 inch long pry bar and still sons, I wish to avoid having to put it in diagonally if possible for optimal use of the space and ease of getting it out again.

i do have one more of these Facom boxes, new but been kicking about for a few years. they are twenty five and a half inches long. Will post up some picks later.

I took the plunge on eBay's cheapest (around £17) 7 lever cantilever box, the smaller/regular length which is around 17 inches.
Crammed it full of tools to the point where it weighs 43kg and started slinging it into vehicles. And I mean slinging, to a smallish bloke who doesn't weigh much more than the box it's a serious thing to move so it can drop with a bang. A year would be reasonable given the work it has, I've known quite expensive boxes cave in from being moved every day.

Around two years later it's - still working perfectly! Brilliant! Well worth every penny and still in great shape, it owes nothing but should give another couple of years service without difficulty, no signs of fatigue.
