Worth having.Been a while since I had any use of a lens kit. In your opinion, how good are they in gas saving??
From a DIY tig welder point of view, are they necessary, or just another gadget to have?
I can't mate. It's always on the edge for me. On the rare occasions I use them 7lpm + is usually where I am to guarantee it for me.I run collet bodies all the time and I can get away with 5lpm Richard? My boss is coded for aviation work and runs 5-6 long through a #5
Of course it does.WPS dictates.
It's what I find to be in the "safe shield zone" with a collet body mate. I could get away with 6 I'm sure but 7 offers insurance. The direct flow blanket of a lens puts 6lpm in that safe zone. (I'd get away with 5lpm).Really? To me 7lpm is quite a bit of gas to be flowing. I would get a telling off at work for going above 6LPM.
There is no point arguing over 1- 2 lpm.
I respect both your opinions in welding as your both professionals in your field.
I do enough of it to have an idea of what works for me. Let's move on.

Brad is a good guy and I've personally met him. He can walk the walk with the best of them with a torch in his hand.
Let's all be friends it's more fun all round.

This kit looks like it would work and you can see in the pics how it goes together.
