In need of some solid brass hinges for vintage motor

Hi All,
My restoration project continues & I've moved onto the wooden door frames.
I'm in need of some new door hinges, problem is they're quite heavy duty but small (see photo) & should ideally be undrilled. I've found some from a vintage parts supplier which are 1.5" deep by 2" wide, which would fit the bill, the only problem they want £24 each + delivery & I need 4. Over a £100 for four hinges sounds a bit of a rip off to me.
Anybody know of an alternative supplier of something similar at a realistic price.

Try the discount places such as Toolstation or Screwfix, often these places sell drilled hinges or piano hinge which is undrilled.

I've found plenty of hinges small enough, problem is they are all too thin & pre drilled, need to be 4mm or there about.

They're past reconditioning especially the top hinges, which have already been drilled oversize for bolts.

Cant see anything that would be a direct replacement but I might be able to cut some down to the size I require. Certainly the prices are more appealing.

Give them a call. I did and they came up with a suitable one what just needed a bit of tiding up to be able to be used.

i would imagine those could be mabe by hand, no mill required, brass is soft after all

I would re drill them and insert a brass rod and then drill them back to the correct size

problem is the knuckels have worn aswell so not tight anymore by the look of it

In the image above has the side to the right had steel bushed brazed in place of the brass or is it just how it looks in the photo?

I have the same hinges on my model A kit hot rod project. I know they are 20+ years old so may not be available, but some of the hot rod/kit car suppliers may know them.

For heavy gauge stuff I always look at marine chandelers, etc. Marine stuff always seems heavy duty and stainless as well.

Perhaps this disassembled shot will make it evident why a milling machine would be reqd. It's not just about function it's got to be as near original as possible.

The originals were probably made by some bloke in a flat cap armed with nothing more than a hammer, a file and a cup of bovril.

See reply to snooper, I'm definitely no youngster I'm one of those spoilt "well" off pensioners you've probably heard them banging on about on the TV. Shame there was nobody about then to keep reminding me just how spoilt I was when I worked 12 hour shifts to pay for my "generous" pension.

The type I have are are extruded brass then cut to length and the slots milled. I expect these were done the same way. are they Austin Seven?
