Workshop segregation

Anyone got and fabulous ideas or methods they use to separate areas in their workshop/garage?

I need a flexible way to prevent grinding dust and such finding it's way everywhere - currently I've got covers over the bikes/car but that doesn't stop grit getting everywhere else.

I was thinking some pull down blinds or something but any better suggestions would be great.

I'm on the look out for a big daddy extractor - that would certainly help.

Not sure about the welding screens as they're quite bulky and I've not got a huge amount of room.

Honestly, I probably spend more time vacuuming the workshop than the house!

I'm the only one who uses the bloody thing too! I knew for certain it was Christmas the other week when I saw the wife shuffling the vacuum round the house.

I was going to suggest some DPC (screwfix do a 4x3mt heavy duty sheet <£10) Then some shower curtain rings and a pole then it could push back like a shower curtain (may need to warm it and put folds to hold shape of pleats) But it's black and will kill the lighting in your work area So what a bout finding a lorry transport place and see if they have a scrap (torn?) curtain form a curtain sided lorry. It will already have the pleats and maybe even the eyes at top for pole.

Use the strips of heavy duty clear PVC that drought doors are made from in factories, they are about 6 inches wide and suspended so that they slightly overlap.when I needed some for my CNC milling machine there were loads on eBay. You buy it by the roll, or they will cut it to length if you want.

So what a bout finding a lorry transport place and see if they have a scrap (torn?) curtain form a curtain sided lorry. It will already have the pleats and maybe even the eyes at top for pole.

Never seen one with eyes, always a piece of flat bar with a pair of wheels, one fitted either side so that they run in the track or if it's a light weight curtain then sometimes its just a T shaped piece of plastic riveted to the top of the curtain again to run in the track. The track is usually a complicated ally shape that also has a grove for the rubber sealing strip which could be a good idea seeing your trying to seal up your workshop.

I put up a partition wall (lots more lovely wall storage) and keep the grinder and linisher in the corner. Also working on a heavy duty extractor system (made out of a traffic cone).

Fair bit of effort went into the design and I have all the bits (just got the drum off a chap here). Course, I haven't made the thing yet...

5 vacuum cleaners chief?! Please tell me you've got some of those rigged up to a flow bench or something.

I saw a YouTube vid of a Scandinavian guy who made something similar to your pic screwdriver. It worked pretty well. Saves buggering about with bags and such.

I hadn't thought of the draught door things - they could be a winner! Now, where can I get one of those curtain runners that go round hospital beds?

Steve, that sounds just what I need across the door of my (infrequently used) meat preparation kitchen where I make the bacon and hams - do you have a link? I've been looking at the ordinary dangling chain type but they all seem to be lightweight aluminum chain that will blow about as it's an inward opening outside door.

Wouldn't the magnets pick up all the metal dust particles?

I have some and it's a lot more heavy duty than you think. Mine was fitted with rollers at the top but hard to secure..
