200 amp inverter

I was looking at a 200amp inverter for farm use and was wondering if turned down these machines can be run through a 13 amp plug as there is only 32amps in the workshop

I was looking at something like the sip t203 or gys gysmi e200

Or would i be better of with something like the gys sysmi 200p fv as it states its 16amp although i dont really need to run on 110v and its more expensive i dont mind if its better on the occasion i want to run it on 13amps or do i really need 2 machines

I've used my inverter mig a fair bit on 200amps, all from a 13amp 3 pin plug

havn't blown a fuse yet

no guarantees I'm getting 200amps out of it tho

Most 230v 200 amp stick inverters will run off a 13amp supply, you just won't get 200 amps out of it.
A 3.2 electrode at 110-130 amps will be happy enough if your supply is decent and your sensible regarding any extension cables you use.

I have the Gysmi E200 FV and I run it off a 13 amp plug most of the time, it will go up to about 160 amps without popping the fuse.

I run my wee Chinese 200amp stick welder off of a 13 amp socket although I have 15amp fuse wire in the plug Never trip the breaker which is 16 amp and I weld up big anchors flukes at 180Amp with 5mm rods putting one in after the other until done, about 2-2.5Kg of rods.
Will be sad when that wee welder eventually packs in as it has been amazing.

I only want arc dont need a tig function looking for hotstart anti stick and so on 175-200 amps

Have looked at the single voltage and dual voltage gys and was wondering if there is any particular reason to go for the dual voltage machine as i doubt i need it but are there any other advantages

To dual voltage?
The only advantage would be if you are using it where 230v isn't available.
Most uk sites don't allow the use of 230 v. It's 3phase or 110v.
Some machines like the millers will run on any voltage. Dual voltage will allow you to run on 110v. It's best with a decent 32a supply for bigger rods.

I know the function of the dual voltage i meant specifically is the anything on the gys machines that gives the dual voltage an extra advantage as the data sheets are very difficult to compare between the 2 200amp gys machines

Can you not install a 16 amp socket?

Might i suggest for farm use you find one that is generator friendly, just in case...your away from ziggies.

There is already 32amp sockets in the workshop so thats not a problem i have a short flex that converts it down to a 13amp plug i just wondered if that will be ok for use in other places as rhe only time the full 200amps would be required is in the workshop

I run my Gys extensively off a PTO driven generator with no AVR and only the tractor governor to stabilise the voltage and it's been fine.

I think originally Richard was referring to a 32A plug if on a 110v supply.

If you have a 32 amp supply then simply fit a 32 amp plug to the flex on your machine and you can run well above 200 amps with ease.

My R Tech 250 is a dual function machine which does MIG and stick, I find I can run 5mm electrode with ease and it only requires a 22 amp input meaning a 32 amp input is well over what is required.

Ive got the Thermal Arc 130 it too runs on 240 or 110 needs a big transformer mind !

ive had it for years no problems with it and its scratch start tig DC of course

I run my kit from a 32 amp socket, saves dicking about melting 13 amp plugs when you turn up the juice. My 200 amp inverter is 23 amps full tilt
