I'm still at it. This week I've made some more pulleys to guide the rope to the main winch. Also done a bit of fettling of the motor mounts and added some strengthening gussets. I've also started making the bracket for the pulleys.

I often work in the man cave till 10pm working on this project so it helps being a nice quiet machine.

Hmm I have a Rapidor in pieces covered up with a tarp outside my kitchen window. Seeing this reminds me that I REALLY need to put it back together and use it!

Bit more progress. Got the pulleys mounted for the main winch....






Squeezing everything in means the rope has to take a bit of a convaluted path to reach the winch pulley but it seems to work great. It took a bit of trial and error to make sure the rope entered and exited each pulley without rubbing the shoulders.

Next job is the pulley system to lift the gib up and down.

looks awesome. what a cool device. and to have it work and function as you envisioned is even better!

Yup , every aspect of it is designed as I go along.
I've sat down in the past and designed things on paper first but that just took me even longer than just wingin it and solving the problems as they appear.

I've done a little video of the arm lifting up just for scientific test purposes

I still need to make a few bushes for the pulleys and fix the cord but I just couldn't help myself from having a play.

Bit more progress this week. I've now finished the limit mechanism for the arm. This is just a trial fit but you'll get the idea. I've got a bit of fettling to do on the inner workings then I'll be starting on the canopy.

Nah, I like to be a bit different. the arm is ford fiesta red and the Base is pewter hammer Finnish from firewood paints

mines mint but painted rough and grubby looking .that looks smart
