they look crap and fade after a few years and look shabby. Rake out re pointing them is the proper way unless your a travelleror cant be bothered to do it properly
thats why I was hoping for advice on the brand..lolNot if you use a quality brand. These went up 6 years ago and still like exactly like the spare one i have in the shed.
Also re pointing is not the best way. The cement gets damp and soaks the battens causing them to rot.
These wont need any more maintenance.

I think it's the hard on ones from roofing super store I was looking at due to their description of fitting with an extra leg.On a purely subjective assessment, Marley and Klober units seemed to me to be the most substantial, but it is hard to find a place where you can handle and compare different makes. Jewsons had several types in stock, but were certainly not cheap. In the end I fitted Harcon units (£1.35+VAT from Roofing Superstore) because they suited existing the tile overhang on this house, and only time will tell how well they last.
Note that dry verge units can be tricky to fit if profiled tiles such as double Roman have been cut to leave a half-width tile at the gable, or if the outer row of tiles at the gable have been cocked up at an angle.
