Tempted to light up the wood stove tonight, its been peeing down all day in MK and now its a cold night, anyone else sparked up yet ?

It has been getting a bit chilly this past few days. I had a jumper on today in the workshop, first time in months!

It's been far too warm up here which is hard to believe and we hit 25c in Aberdeen last week. Another warm sunny day today as well so far. September has been lovely weather so far, same as last year.

It plummeted to 9° here last night First time in months it's been in single figures but it's not cool in the house, It's usually mid to late October before it's cold enough for a fire.

I've been clearing trees and seasoning the split logs for two to three years now - this winter will be fully free heating and hot water
My log pile is getting out of hand - a lot of work but payback starts this year.

A mate collects free wood each year for his wood stove, amazing how much is about if you're prepared to do a bit of graft.

just cut some logs down myself but i only need a little bit for my wood burner

i do run a test burn before the winter hits looking for any issues before the winter season starts i also do the same with the central heating system just to check that over as well

Not yet but the oil supply pipe to my central heating has started leaking so I need to get that replaced asap before the cold weather kicks in.
