I think it's a bit much to say only arsey people "care "about spelling, migmag. In my book there's a sort of unofficial threshold. If it makes sense first time round then I'm not going to be grumbling about 'their' and 'there', for example. But if I've got to read it twice then perhaps the message isn't quite clear enough. Anyway, Bucko's been big enough to admit his spelling's not top-notch and he's said he's going to spell check it so good on him.

And if a decent person (which we virtually all are on ere) would maybe advise with a PM would we not??

I know it might sound picky to some, but we are using written language here on the internet - in the pub you probably wouldn't spend much time talking to someone who hadn't bothered to learn how to talk properly, would you?

Love the way arsey people say they dont want to be picky or they dont want to open a tin of worms and they go ahead and do just that,
And above all you find the post says sod all about the subject in the first place,

Thinking about what you are about to say also helps...........

Why not for this thread only not use spell check in your post ???

To me, primarily this is a welding forum. My way of thinking, yes very poor spelling can be a pain too dischipher just what is being said. Generally though, your stuff was readable, i have seen far worse.
If it was a forum for perhaps English Language students we might have had a bigger issue

The one thing i realy don't like is 'txt spk' or text speak I have Pm'd one or two users in the past to ask them to stop using it.

I ought to try the spell checker add on myself, im sure there is a few dubious spellings in my posts

When people start pulling other members up on spelling it normally seems they have had a disagreement, and one of them can't find anything to pick on in the other persons posts

Why is that then? There are only a few exceptions surely. I find it a useful rule, though it probably wouldn't work so well with your Latin where they jumble their vowels up any old how.

With all the CCTV cameras out there literally taping our every move, we are now the most watched country on earth. Rather ironic that we are the country to produce George Orwell and his prophetic work 1984. Who watches the watchers, indeed, and what will they do when they have all all the information that it is possible to gather on us, our supposed private voting habits, our credit information, our health or lack of it even our individual DNA. Now even our daily movements are being monitored. Seems like totalitarianism by stealth to me.
