where can i get some cheap welders sleeves?

i have some good quality thick cotton t-shirts that i wear when welding as they breathe and dont melt, but i usually have to put a coat on over the top to protect my arms...

in this weather thats not very fun so i want some sleeves.

will only be fore light duty mig welding really so dont need anything too heavy duty

Kevlar sleeves are ideal. Fairly thin, but stop spatter attacking your arms. Get the long ones that will go up and under your tee shirt sleeves.

i was hoping to grab a pair of kevlar sleeves from work yesterday but i was told we dont use them anymore...used to be mandatory PPE for anyone working on the lead pots incase of splash back but apparently they gave too many people a rash so were stopped and now they have to wear some fancy overalls instead...

have just found screwfix sell sleeves with binzel in the name...no reviews though

I have bee using some old chef jackets lately for welding grinding ect they do the trick for me no more burnt jumpers

i have some dickies fire retardent overalls but i get so hot in them i spend more time wiping the sweat off than welding lol. good in the winter though

Kevlar fibres are quite irritant to the skin, but any sort of forearm protector must always be worn over something else, usually a boiler suit. Was that the case?

no idea, never worked in that department. i know that in the department i work in we have to use tyvex paper sleeves in acid areas and they are usualy just worn with a t-shirt (bare forearms) and i have never specifically been told they have to be worn over any other garments

I buy em in a loose fit personally but they are supposed to be worn in a close fit I think.

I wear the T shirt under a medium weight cotton shirt or Bizweld jacket.
For Kevlar sleeves I would wear this stuff under them if possible (no idea if it would stay in place when you pull the sleeves on, maybe cut a thumb loop in it or summat).

I thought kevlar sleeves were for protection against cuts not burns??

I bought a dickies overall They are very warm can hardly stand it for more than a few minutes plus i ordered the wrong size and in certain positions i cannot move my arms .

They should be but I cannot say for certain as I have never got mine burnt (yet). There was a purge on kit being fire retardent as blokes were getting nasty injuries from melted fibres-the Royal Navy in particular.
Any kit that had man made fibres was treated, but iirc, that can wash out, so surplus kit might be lacking on that as I would imagine its cleaned by industrial process before sale-however; that item is shown as being brand new so should be proofed.
The body section is coolmax and I doubt that would be as its meant to under body armour, the sleeves should be resistant. I have a cotton vest with pockets that covers that bit.

My Proban jacket says good for 50 wash cycles. Some state far less wash cycles.
I don't believe any offer protection when dirty

I've just picked some of the port west navy blue sleeves up, seems good enough, haven't welded with them yet though
