Best place for digital micrometer.

Looking for a cheap 0-25mm digital micrometer. Prices seem to vary wildly even for the same item

Anyway suggestions?

i had an oxford one that i was given as an apprentice...worked fine for the average user...i also then bought a cheap one from aldi for a fiver and its exactly the same accuracy wise, just feels a bit rougher round the edges...nothing a quick stone didnt solve though

sorry, wrong end of the stick, was thinking of the cheap vernier i bought...

i did have a digi micrometer from oxford when i was an apprentice though and was fairly good

I picked up a digital caliper from Lidl for about a fiver years ago - lasted ages and was reasonable quality, until I broke the glass/plastic display.

Aldi digital micrometer could be as old as Feb 2012, I can find links and pages from that era but the links are dead or have been deleted. About £9 then

not seen a micrometer in there...only ever the vernier calipers that are in around the same time as the tool boxes and power tools

Have a gawk on Aliexpress, if its made in china you'll find it on there.

I got mine from fleabay for a decent price, can't recall if it's Mitutoyo or M&W without going to the shed

theres no such thing as a Vernier . vernier is a scale

Why do you want a digital mic over an ordinary type with a scale ? I used the digital type once, didn't particularly like it, i prefer the older type. Having worked in a fairly large machine shop before, i didn't see many digital mics, if any used.

Not the first time i've been called that , but what works, works, and i've never seen the battery going flat on a micrometer scale either.

I'm with you on this one I've use all the digi mics even Mitutoyo and I don't like them. They are too finicky IMO.

sadly both links are now dead, however they refereed to the Aldi digital Micrometer and there was a whole thread on the Triumph site regarding this and other digital micrometer options.

I have some thing very similar and it was used to check paper thickness.

With a digital mic you don't make mistakes reading the scale wrong, and you can take incremental or absolute measurements, swap between mm and inch, which is something the vernier scale ones can't do. Mine even has a tolerance band feature. I'd have t0 ask the question why would you not?
