VW GOLF Mk4. Remote door opening, 03 plate 1900 TDI,5 door manual
My Daughter went off to Marrakech for a Holiday a few weeks ago, when she returned the cold snap took its toll on the battery and it wouldn't stat the car. As normal, Put the charger on for 24 hours, and all seemed fine.
She`s been here over Xmas and unknown to me the remote has not functioned as it used to.
Previously one press opened the Drivers door, two presses opened all the 4 doors and boot.
In its wisdom one press still opens the drivers door, two presses opens -only the drivers door, once inside the car, you can open all doors and boot using the switch on the drivers door panel, you can also lean over and open the passenger door or any other door by using the interior door handle.
Now if you Google the fault its a very common one with pages upon pages of similar identical problem. The solutions to the questions vary, disconnect battery connect the cars + and - together, reconnect, open the drivers door by remote then manually open the passenger door to inform the module other doors are in the system, etc etc, I have even reprogrammed a key , but i`m guessing you are only confirming the frequency on which the key talks to the car module and not maybe the default settings -if there are any.
I have a simple VAG code reader, reads and deletes codes, and nothing is showing up on any of the umpteen searches available.
All the solenoids are working, as the car can be opened by inserting the key in the drivers door lock, one turn to open drivers door, two clicks to open all doors and boot, reversing the procedure to lock everything up.
Since the flat battery scenario, the Original 11 Year old Varta battery has been changed, I piggy backed a 12 volt battery on the leads to save the clock and radio settings, so the battery has never actually been disconnected from the car. My car is an almost identical model but I dont have the "winter" pack, so its a model I`m well familiar with.
In VWs wisdom, is there a simple fix???? pressing a combination of buttons at certain times, disconnecting battery??-- Or is a very, very expensive hook up to their diagnostic equipment to reset the option. The Drivers manual does indicate an option to open one door or 5 doors. However says the dealer can programme this for you.
HELP PLEASE.
