I was thinking it might be close to a Harrison or similar. I'm sure most could be made to fit
i was thinking of knocking the flux off a NiFe rod and tigging it, but I was worried it might put a bit too much heat in. Was also considering a good dose of pre heating prior to welding and then gradual cooling in the ovenYou've got nothing to lose. I'd certainly have a bash at it.
I would adopt a slight different approach though. I'd v it out quite deep around the whole area for repair and I'd clamp it in a vice to tack it up only. Then I'd take it out and fully weld it as per the cast iron sequence but unclamped. I'd let it go where it may want to go. You can control distortion to a point with how you weld it but it's gonna want to move and it's not a ductile thing which as pointed out may cause a crack else where. I've always tig welded cast iron with nickel iron filler.
