Snap on deals at the mo.

Just this minute walked on the van to have a nose and order a new tool bag and he had a hugely discounted shelf of gear . Screwdrivers at 60 quid, flank drive plus spanners £120 full set. Socket sets etc etc all very much reduced from when I last had a nose. I have a bacho set of screwdrivers that have Been good to be fair but I couldn't leave these sitting there at that price.

Usually over £100 with vat on top so at £60 plus vat I thought it's a bit of a deal.

No it's just the "industrial" finish.
No harder than the chrome ones afaik

Good buy Richard...good quality screwdivers compared to muck is like night and day when in use.

Were these on the monthly special or just a deal with your local man? I reckon they would sell a lot more if you could view the specials online. My local dealer is absolute nightmare to get hold of, sad thing is I nearly always leave the van with something and it's a cash/card sale as opposed to the credit that most garages have.

They do make a good screwdriver, I don't you can buy a better screwdriver than the Snap On ratchet ones. I've lost count of the times I've undone a screw a normal screwdriver wouldn't budge.

Interesting point Bahco are under the same umbrella as Snap On, I had a query about a Bahco item recently and got a reply from Snap On. I believe Bahco make some of the Snap On ratchets now

I'm not sure tbh he just had a shelf full of boxes that he'd individually priced up really well. I was shocked. Especially those flank drive plus spanners. I thought they usually fetch £200 plus. 120 today the set. I'm the same I buy it out right not on the ticket because I ain't in the office most weeks so I can't see him every week to keep up payments. Don't know why it was cheaper and I saw no leaflets. Maybe it was older stock he couldn't shift not sure. Maybe he got a good deal on an order???

I picked up the same drivers some time last year when they came up for £60, they where the chrome shaft version.
I'm waiting for flank drive plus spanners to come on offer, I didn't give them any thought till I used one on a exhaust temp sensor which is always tight and rounds off, they didn't even feel like they would round and came out easy, they are usually £250 for a set 8/19mm

Treating myself to a power probe 4 Wednesday

If you use face book there is a selling site called snap on and Mac tools for sale, latest leaflets get loaded onto this, there is also an app you can download which has brochures on Inc monthly snap on, can't remember the name .

you end up buying lots of things.

last three times i went on the van..

1. set of 4 carbide burrs with free die grinder and set of 3 ratchets..
2. diagnostics scanner.
3. 3/8 torque wrench, set of 3 swivel knuckles.

I like the Snap on Hard handle drivers, they are about £120+vat when they have them.
I did find out they are made by Williams tools in America ( snap on now own them), So after a trip to Ebay

AS already said they will undo screws when other drivers have failed.

The original hard handle ones I have are a different profile handle than your picture, I just like them more than any others I have ever used, they are a 20 year old design.

Looks pretty good value, is the Power Probe 4 a Snap On tool? What sort of money is it? I was about to buy the Durite one, may hold fire now

It's not a snap on tool, it's made by power probe and snap on sell it, it's around £250

I've had a google, it does look very good. There's a place on ebay doing them for £189 delivered. I think the Durite one will do most of the things but it does look like the Power Probe support is very good, there is even a Repairs link on the website.

They are one of those tools that I can remember so many times where it would saved me time.

I have found a few Snap on items are just re badged manufactured by others, I personally feel the quality of Snap on has gone down in some areas, but the cheap imported stuff has improved dramatically look at Bergen, Teng Halfords Professional, its excellent stuff and good value.

I like the functions it has, basically a good multi metre and probe in one, I have no issues paying a little extra from the van for the flexablilty of payments and if it went wrong I don't need to post away for repair I can just pass onto my dealer and have him sort it
