Any of you guys spray cars for a living

Bit of a weird question but I am trying to ascertain an average price you would charge to paint a second hand wing from a Volkswaggen Golf if it was brought in and you were asked to paint it a certain green. regular volswaggen paint code. Nothing special.

I will let you all know what my lad was charged when he scratched a wing recently......I think you will be amazed..

Lets see what you all think it should cost first....

I am just doing a Scimitar SS1 wing in metallic blue COB. It needs some repair work first. I am estimating £150 bill, although there are local outfits advertising £80 per panel. No idea what the small print is.

Rear wing I recently renovated and painted the same colour was £160.

My son did not take it. The gaffa took it down and he took it to the paint shop that does all their dinks etc.

Its a recovery firm he works for and they operate a 450 quid pot that you build up with your pound an hour bonus. (they pay £8 per hour) Any damage below 450 you cause comes out of that anything above they claim off the insurance but its a 450 excess. So you have to build the bonus back up again.

Would have 350/400 at my place, that's four years ago now but prices haven't changed much in that time down here. Do keep in mind the bonnet and door may need to be flashed for a proper job.

No mate...the wing was taken off a scrap car. (One that had not been collected and was going to be crushed. Taken to the body shop and asked to be resprayed. Then it was collected. It was then fitted to the car that had been damaged. No blending no messing just flat prime and spray.

Ok then...£150 or £200 if it had any small damage to sort.

Depending on the quality of the job I'd expect somewhere between 2 and 300 quid for a quick blow over, for an a1 job, the sky is the limit

I am in the wrong game...300 quid to paint a wing off a car. I just thought I bet he is down South...lol and you aint. lol

The thing was last week a guy took a 4 x 4 wing over and it cost him 50 quid cash.

The next week they take a VW golf wing in to the same body shop and get a bill of 210 labour 90 QUID paint and Vat on the top. Strange that it comes out of his bonus and the gaffa has just had a complete car sprayed over there.......oh well their loss we would have put a lot of business their way but will make sure no one we know or dont as the case may be goes up there..

Great uncle owned one of the biggest coach builders in the country in its day friend of mine apprenticed there and is an amazing panel beater/sprayer . last time I saw him pricing anything up he was charging about 7k to spray a vw split screen camper , and he was getting it too

Great uncle owned one of the biggest coach builders in the country in its day friend of mine apprenticed there and is an amazing panel beater/sprayer . last time I saw him pricing anything up he was charging about 7k to spray a vw split screen camper , and he was getting it too

7k is about right for a "good-quality" full repaint and the splitties are hard because they aren't that straight so I would say 7k is cheap.

This was part of the problem. The firm he worked for is recovery and often get damage to repair. SO they dealt with it all. He expected 100 quid tops as we have sprayed cars ourselves when we had our unit and know people who still spray. Ok so knowing they will grease each others palms 150 Total inc vat would be reasonable but £360 quid when the car is only worth £400 is pathetic.

I had a bloody good crease took out the side of my van and resprayed 250 quid . u cant even tell it was damaged. another outfit wanted 600

He may well (probably is) charging more, it's been quite a bit since I've seen him! he did quote another mate 6k for a jag recently by all accounts and that was mates rates
