Lost car keys.

With things going from bad to worse it looks like I might be needing a new car key for my 2007 D40 Navara.

Went out in father in laws car as he is in hospital following a hernia operation to the cafe before we went on the Severn Valley railway Santa special.

Remembered the tickets were in the Navara so rushed home to grab them............no sign of them. 2 hours later still no sign. Missed the train and grandson missed out on his presents. Wife is very upset but as the wife let's the grandson play with the keys they can only have themselves to blame really.

Anyway I still can't find my keys and the spares were lost a while back. ..so it looks like a new key but how am I going to do that without a key to cut from.........I can see this being expensive as the truck does not even have key holes in it....it's keyless entry by remote control.

I'm guessing this is the part where you'll find out how disgustingly easy it is to get into your vehicle and running with the correct kit. A phone call to the dealer is the best place to start.

I think with proof of ownership and the vin number the dealers these days can provide the key number of each vehicle, that means of course you have to buy from a dealership and no simple cutting of keys in some discount shop.

This is the problem.....dealers are stupidly expensive.....

If you've lost both keys though, it doesn't sound like you have much choice.

They can be done via 3rd party but I wondered if any of the members on here knew of the best company etc..

We have an idea where they might be but she is at the clothes show till later. Lol

We were repairing a lock on a 106 my lad was getting rid of as the lock stopped working hours before the buyer turned up. Lol my grandson was sitting with his mom in their car and had been playing with my car keys apparently.

Failing that a forensic level tidy up will take place tommorow. ......then go from there...

when i was in the breakdown game,we used to get a lot of "lost key" jobs,we would drag them back to our yard,a locksmith came out and had new keys made up and the car running in 1/2 hour,no idea of the cost but got to be cheaper than dealer prices ?.

Park it up on Mount Pleasant Swansea, somebody is bound to be able to open it within five minutes.

bet theres a key port somewhere... otherwise if the battery is flat you are screwed

Dont you have a note of the key numbers in the service book? Our vauxhall did and it was an easy job to get new keys, thankfully the dealership we got it from stumped up for them.

Park it up on Mount Pleasant Swansea, somebody is bound to be able to open it within five minutes.

I parked in one of two places recently and someone jammed the transmission or recorded it.....Police said the devices were rife round here. They stole the wifes handbag........

They are NOT the keys we lost today...

They are the set we lost 2 years ago....many of you will be aware my wife had a stroke some 15 years ago and it's left her with many problems. One of which is memory issues....although she has a brilliant memory she does not have control when it comes to her. Having to think about today's keys triggered what she had done with the others 2 years ago.........inside a key cabinet behind a false door. Lol

Not to lecture and all that, but why in gods name did you neglect to have a 'forensic level tidy up' two years ago when you lost the first set, and then to go on with no spare set for two years is asking for trouble. You've only got yourselves to blame.
