would a beginner benefit from a gas lense kit when learning to tig weld or does it make little difference when you are still relatively crap?
I used a lot of gas when I started, a gas lense would have saved some money due to the lower flow rate!
It gives what's poshly called a more laminar flow. The gas comes out nice and aligned, which gives the better coverage, tungsten protrusion and gas savings.
I found that when I switched to them my welds got better and my gas flow dropped.
No definitely worth it. 100%.
so they are worth it then? im not actually looking for a tig, but know a lad that has just bought a wse200 unit off fleabay and the torch that came with it only had one tungsten and one ceramic, he only bought it as a toy and didnt know what else to get so i mentioned gas lense kits but then thought maybe i should have checked here first
Langy, i have shown the lad your gasser build threads, he is of the impression that you are god himself...he is a huge hotrod fan but insists on using 'roadkill' as a benchmark
A stubby gas lens kit is far better than the normal cups...helped me loads....
Yes..and you get short cups....It made a lot of difference when I changed over to one. ...I got mine from the USA but some of the chaps hear might no if there is a UK sorcerer. ..well worth the doe.Is that the one that gives you a small back cap to make the torch smaller?

Fine or coarse Paul and do you need to twizzle it in a particular way? Then for the top notch super duper results, with much cheapness there's the home made donut of stainless wire wool inserted into the ceramic.

Mine are looking a bit shabby in some cases and that sounds like my kind of price ^_^
