Recommend me some indexable threading tools

I'm after a right hand external (but would also be nice to have l/h too) threading tool. Preferably that holds inserts in the horizontal plane, designed to accept 3 sided carbide inserts. 25mm max on the shank, bigger the better. I see Rdg do one but I would rather a 'branded' one. Something with readily available inserts in 55 or 60 degrees.
Also interested in internal tooling to the same end.
Have waded through 6 of 9 ebay results pages, seem long on tooling and short on inserts - certain styles discontinued perhaps?

As long as it takes er16 tips you will be fine I think. . Hopefully an expert will confirm

Virtually all of the inserts seem to specify a thread type or pitch. Does no body simply do 55 or 60 degree wedge?

60 degree is 60 degree whether metric or imperial surely.

Chronos do them in their glanze range, not cheap mind. Not sure if they do left hand.

You could try cromwell tools they sell tips and lathe tools etc.

Or a tooling speacilist. I used to use a one man band for milling cutters etc, was cheapish and as he was local loved cash. Shame hes retired.

Not had any experience of Chronos, but I want to avoid the likes of Gloucester tools, and RDG. I actually have a set of rdg boring bars that seem ok but the live centre I bought from them is poor. The front most bearing can actually be seen rotating inside the head.

I don't mind paying more for quality, that said I've no qualms about s/h gear either.

There are two types of insert,"part form" and "full form".
Part form can be treated as a single point tool,you select by the thread angle.
Full form cuts both sides of the thread,so is restricted to one thread pitch.

I have had some great service from them in the past, including lathe tool spares, screws and insert packers etc. Despite a good look they were one of the very few who had them at the time.

Not had any experience of Chronos

i bought many things from them.

from a rotary table, ER32 holder and collet set for my mill/drill.
soluble cutting oil, and lastly some indexable holders and tips,
got the pair kit LH and RH for turning and the throu coolant boring bar.
and the better torx key for changing the tips.
as the standard liittle allen key type
supplied with the holders aint easy to use when your full of arthritis

though when they sent the package i found they had put the wrong extra key in the package.
sent an extra standard one instead of the one shown in the link.
must admit when i emailed them about it, they said they was sorry and sent one out in the post that day.
so Five stars for great customer service.

will be looking at the internal and external,parting and profiling kit at some point.

and also a ER32 collet chuck for the lathe, as i already have lots of collets in the kit i bought for the mill.
