There is a really long drawn out answer to this with every case scenario involved but I'll stick to a short one.Hi all,
I've just started MIG welding
Can anybody help me out with the following question please.
What are the likely effects on health and safety by using incorrect welding parameters?
Thanks, Breckarns

The weld could break and depending on what that weld is doing or holding people could die. Simple.
If there is a WPS involved then there is a reason the company/customer has paid to have one of those created for the job. Going outside of procedure can lead to legal proceedings taken against the welder/company depending on the severity of the outcome. H&S would definitely investigate with intention to prosecute if it caused an accident.
That's a very technical question for someone just starting out, most beginners post a picture of some snotted on blobs and ask what thery're doing wrong.
Sounds more like an exam question rether than just someone asking for a bit of advice.![]()

.
I was just kidding, it's just not the usual sort of beginner's post we get on here.
I'm guessing you're doing a course of some sort rather than having just bought a welder and learning how to use it?
Richard sums it up well, using the wrong settings could lead to a catastrophic failure if the item being welded is used in a critical application.
He has come very close to in the pastI would like to see you say that the next time a newbie posts up a picture of his first attemp LOL![]()
