I was thinking some of his prices seem optimistic. Saying that though, I'd love to have that floor standing shaper. Shame he's at the **** end of the country.

Looking back at his previous items for sale, he's sold an adept and a large metal planer in the last 2 months too. Either a shaper dealer, which in Surrey is unlikely, or a shaper collector getting rid...

I want a shaper, gawd alone knows why. Sadly any i see for sale over here are grossly overpriced. Apart from cutting internal keyways, is there anything a shaper can do that a mill can't ?

More trouble than its worth i reckon, i think hand shapers might be of some limited use to model engineers, but really i think they are more of a novelty now than anything else.

You know you want one. The other plus for shapers is the cutting tools cost next to nothing, old lathe tools you can pick up at autojumbles or shows.

They do that don't they. If I had nothing to do all day I think I would buy a shaper just so I could sit and watch it make repeated passes over a big block of metal, a most pleasing and therapeutic way to pass time.

You would need two, one each side for balanced muscle development.
