Just rang Vodafone to cancel the insurance on my phone and asked what tarriff deals they had on as I didn't want an upgrade. She looked at what I'm on now and said "if I was you I'd stick with the one you're on as I've never seen a deal as good as that and I doubt you'll ever get one like it again". Turns out when I rang them last year from Spain to set up a discount for calling home they also gave me £5 pm discount on the line rental so I'm on under £15 a month contract for life giving me 125 anytime any network minutes, think it's either 200 or 250 texts, 'stop the clock' which means after 3 mins the call timer stops so I can carry on talking for up to 60 mins and rollover minutes.
So........I've got a new phone coming tomorrow and a new 18 month contract :-).
Because I'm on such a low tarriff it should cost me £20 for the upgrade but she said she'd do it for free and she gave me £1 pm discount on a new insurance policy plus 3 months free!!
Oh, it's a Sony Ericsson W910i in Havana Bronze btw, not sure about the colour yet but I like the deal
Oh and she chucked in some free speakers and another memory card too
As a great man once said....."I love it when a plan comes together"

My next tactic was to ring up and request my PAC code which is what you need to switch networks. They gave it (reluctantly) and then rang me three times over the next few days, eventually offering me a decent reduction, so I took it.
