WTF someone using ebay instead of the bin

I've just been browsing through the metalworking supplies and found this person selling rubbish but even more bizarrely is someone has bid on most of it.

They don't post the stuff, they buy it themselves using different accounts to get their feedbacks up high

Most of his sales are by the same buyer, his other account, his wife's or mates, so he is building up positive feedback and that is usually a sign a scam is due.

It would serve him right if people bought the items he had listed and left what feedback they thought he deserved.

Maybe, but he's been a member since 2005 and he's racked up 1900 sales.

The bloke who paid 6p for a small black coloured plastic tube - with free postage - said it was "a complete and utter waste of time".

What's more, if you look at his history, this has been going on for years.

It could be a signalling device for something like that with a pre-agreed code.

Could be just a nutter. If so it's been going on for a long time and must have cost a packet over the years.

Yes but this stuff has gone on for years and it's mainly been bin fodder apparently sold for a few pence.

Surely if you were setting up a sting, say selling a lost Faberge Egg on ebay for a mere £250k, you'd need a slightly more credible history than selling bottle tops, coasters, old newspapers and other rubbish to the same person, or few people for coppers?

Well it's probably considered better to have a high number of positive feedback as many will just glance at the ratings without ever clicking and scrolling through them.

If you don't like this, stick in a bid for an obscene amount and buy one of these items, don't pay and leave negative feedback. That'll harm the score, can be done again I think after a certain time.

Yes I think we should bid on each item. Might cost us 10 pence but we could undo all his years of hard work.

Seeing as he/she has built up over 1600 sales I think what they are doing is building up various 100% feedback buyer accounts, these could then be used to buy goods which 'mysteriously never arrive' and so the purchase price gets refunded?

I never throw anything away these days as it's surprising what people will buy, I just chuck it on ebay 99p start, I can't believe some of the stuff people buy !!!
