Pretty sure that the legislation says that it must be connected/disconnected by a Gas Safe registered engineer, in practice I do it myself and leak test with soapy water, even easier with bayonet fittings.are they easy to fit or do I have to get a gas man to fit it.?
inbuilt hob has to be solid pipe unless the instructions say other wise. should be fitted by gas safe registered engineer. if it's your house you can fit it if you want, as long as it don't go bang!
yes it is illegal if it goes bang and you are a non registered gas fitter, plumber, carpenter or what ever. but know one can stop you from working in your own house. All inbuilt hobs have to be solid connection, and it's not ok to fit if it's in your own house, it's illegal

Fitting fires and boilers? Take the risk if you like, knowing how to do a tightness test and read a working pressure is about 0.01% of what a gas fitter does, what about flue flow continuity or co ratio or burner pressure or the mandatory checks on flues and vents, most people assume gas leaks are the biggest issue when working on gas, they are a part of it but flueing and ventilation is much bigger and more complicated and more likely to be done wrong by someone who isn't qualified
