Titan tools

just thought I would share my thoughts on the titan brand. a while ago I bought a 5kg 240V sds drill that packed up. was only a cheapo one for one job, well it died after about an hour, so I took it back and was given a titan as replacement. didn't have much faith but dear god it is a good drill. powerfull, well made, all the mod cons of a bigger brand and it just keeps on working.

so when my jigsaw went up in smoke, I bought a titan. again, much of the same, well built, easy to use, little vibration and a pleasure to work with.

so when I needed a new router as my old green bosch finally gave up, I bought a titan this morning. it far out performs the bosch and again feels well made and sturdy, cuts with easy, micro adjustment on the plunge depth (which the bosch didn't have) and came with a 30mm guide bush (which I didn't have either) so to complement it I have just bought a kitchen fitters jig as I didn't have one when I put a worktop in a few weeks ago and had to mark out by hand and cut by eye. turned out fine but would have been quicker with a jig.

so, for anyone looking for a cheap power tool that they are only going to use a few times a year, titan are my favourite. I use them a few times a week and cant break them so they must be at least half decent lol

Nice to know, when you pay top money for tools it doesn't mean you get top quality these days.

I hired a worktop jig a few years ago when I fitted my BIL's worktops,it cost £7 for the day to hire.
After I finished with it I made a template in card and then took the jig back.

Got a piece of perspex and used the template to make the jig....good stuff....ain't used it since.

i had thought about making one, but don't know anyone willing to lend me one to copy. got mine from ebay, its a 1000mm jig so will deal with breakfast bars too. its identical to the trend jig

I saw a thread on another website and the opinions were all good. Its Screwfix own brand for anyone that doesnt know

Someone also mentioned that he was disappointed to find out that Screwfix isnt a dating agency

i have there dirty water submersable pump which i use for cleaning the koy pond and must say it lifts all the muck no problem, i was pretty surprised cosidering the price. they do seem to be a good manufacturer.

yes, the only bad reviews I can find are from people that obviously expected their jigsaw to be able to do all the marking out, calculations, mitres and curved cuts while the operator made a cup of tea. when used as intended they are cracking tools I think

I will let my father know about that, he has a koi pind too and goes through sub pumps like they are toys

i bought their demolition hammer/sds hammer drill/tea maker some time ago as it was cheaper than hiring a kango for a weekend !,went through concrete quite easily.
its is a sign that the Chinese are catching up with the major named players bit time for a fraction of the price

Yes but....there's a difference between a Shuni bearing and SKF bearing.

They do have the shortest power leads possible tho . Rather have a decent length myself than fanny about with extension leads when the socket is 4' away !

I've never noticed, but I usually run tools in a garden so sockets are 5-6 meters away anyway. I put commando plugs on all my tools to give a simple excuse when people want to borrow them as my genny has a 16a outlet.

I too bought the 5kg sds drill around 10 years ago, I used it when I was a ceramic tiler for removing old tiles from walls and floors, I really did abuse the thing, I checked the grease resevoir regularly and it is still working well today, I only use it now and then now, but I would imagine it will last another 10 years.
I would buy another Titan tool without a doubt.

Probably not for long. The main reason the Chinese tend to churn out tat is not due to them being incapable of producing good gear. Quite the opposite, in most cases. Hell, they were technologically advanced when we were still burning witches in this country. The reason they palm off tat is because that's what our suppliers and manufacturers pay them to produce; goods at the cheapest price point, hence the tat. Give it a few years and we'll be seeing much better stuff come out of China, once our large companies have changed country's to exploit for cheap labour.

On the plus side, it'll make me chuckle to see the reaction on some American forums once that happens. I honestly think a good portion of them would point blank refuse to ever accept that China can produce better gear than the USA, even if they physically had two products in their hand, one from China and one from USA, and the USA made on snapped on them during use.

I've used quite a few titan and find them good value for money.
The sheet sander was particularly well put together.

Ive had a few titan tools, so far they have been fine for my light usage. to be fair with alot of things these days, look at the reviews online before purchasing, if its fit for purpose, buy it rather than being a brand snob.

i personaly wouldnt bother with titan tools there probably ok for fair use in diy . all my gear is fairly heavy duty and gets hammered 7 days a week year in year out but i never buy new tools .the most ive paid for a 350 quid drill is 150 quid second hand and most are only 60 quid . bosch kango dewalt makita and hitachi
