I have a Karcher Washer similiar if not the same as the one you pictured, what do I need to set up a Wet Sand Blasting system, I need to do some Wheel Rims?

ps try and keep the sand away from the wet spray maybe in a big bucket, still in it's bag

What are you trying to do? if trying to get the paint off(powder coated) I have not tried this with wet sandblasting but have had success in removing the paint with this product...

Did the job quite well and then I used the normal pressure washer on it to clean the rim.
Tried two well known brands of paint remover and they failed miserably.

He tells me that nilfisk is very good pressure washer but needs to be 150bar with 8ltr/m just looking at them on ebay £399
Well i know bugger all about PW's but but this one was made for Aldi(powercraft) by Karcher,I just got advice from a person who repaired PW's to stay clear of the brush type motor ones and buy one with no less than 2kw at around 120 bar for general use.
This ones 10 years old now? probably a little older? but its had a lot of punishment and it does the job of wet blasting as you have seen here and on the other thread,if it crapped out tomorrow I'd say I have had my moneys worth out of it,touch wood it will still be doing the buisness for quite awhile.

If I recall someone did post a warning about storing your pressure washer wit water left in it as it can freeze over winter damaging the pump. So drain if you can.

I keep my stuff inside in the spare bedroom,sheds too darn old for storing tools and motorised equipment.
Seen a 6.2hp petrol pressure washer on an auction site which went for £125 and just up the east lancs from me,pity that I'd have had a go at that.

I have a kew hobby 88, the bloke in the parts washer place told me I bought it in 1988, I guess he was right.
I got the blasting stuff with it. I got a load of **** with it, I still haven't tried most of it.
I didn't think the blasting thing would be any good so didn't bother trying it, went round a mates one day[restorer with a really good reputation]
and he's blasting something with a pressure washer! I have only used it a few times, I blasted my land rover wheels in 2000, took them, to bare metal[from crusty rust] and gave them a thin coat of galvafroid and a coat of 2pack green, they are starting to show a bit of rust and could do
with doing again. The failure if you leave water in the pump over the winter is a little plastic pipe which splits, well with mine it is, you know it's
happened as water pours out of the body of the thing. To prevent it freezing shut the water off and let the pump squirt out the water.
Re the electrolysis method, it's not actually removing rust per se, but rather converting it back to proper iron (Fe).
Rust happens when iron (Fe) loses it's valence electrons, and you're left with a Fe ion and something else to make a salt. When you apply the anode and cathode the right way around, you'll have electrons propagating from the sacrificial metal to the object you're trying to "clean". Ie it's an additive process, if you will.
Compare this to the acid method, what you're doing here is actually removing the rust itself by solving it in acid. This is actually removing rust that could be converted to good metal with the electrolysis method.
Note, I'm not a chemist, the above is just what I remember from my chemistry a-level.
